This article explains the solution for when WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD ADD-IN-CARD is not autodetected when replacing previous PCIe card in the same PCIe slot.

Issue:

WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD ADD-IN CARD is not autodetected when replacing WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD ADD-IN-CARD with new WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD ADD-IN-CARD in the same PCIe slot using Windows 10.

Cause:

This is an issue caused by the fast boot function of Windows 10.
The Windows 10 quick boot function will first record the information of each peripheral device.
The next time the system is booted, the Windows 10 quick boot function will confirm if it is the same device used last time.
Due to Windows 10 quick boot function, it will treat the new WD_BLACK AN1500 NVMe SSD ADD-IN-CARD as the same card and will not trigger device rescan.

Solution:

Initiate a scan for hardware changes.

Follow these steps:
Click Start, and type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box and hit enter.
Device Manager opens.
In Device Manager, click your computer so that it is highlighted.
Click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
