WD Device Mac Address
What is a Mac Address?
A Media Access Control address (MAC address) of a device is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on the network. No two networked devices can have the same MAC address.
Obtain the MAC address of your WD Device.
The MAC Address of WD devices will be located on the Product Label containing the Product Part and Seriel Number.

Router Attached Devices or UPnP Table
Universal Plug and Play ( UPnP ) allows networked equipment such as personal computers, printers, Internet gateways, Wi-Fi access points, mobile devices and My Cloud to seamlessly discover each other's presence on the network. UPnP is intended primarily for residential networks.
WD does not provide information on router support or instructions on how to enable login locate the UPnP Table or Attached Devices screen on 3rd party routers. Please consult the router's user manual or contact the router manufacturer to determine if UPnP is supported and instructions on how to login and access the routers device information
- Login to your network router.

- Locate the Attached Devices or UPnP Table
Please refer to you routers user manual for details.
- Cross reference the MAC Address with the IP address of the device in the routers table

Windows - Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
Cross reference the MAC Address with the ARP table to determine if the WD device is obtaining an IP address or is present on the network.
- Open a Command Prompt

- Type arp -a

- Look for the MAC Address of the WD device

macOS - Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
Cross reference the MAC Address with the ARP table to determine if the WD device is obtaining an IP address or is present on the network.
- Click the Spyglass Icon in the upper right corner of the screen

- Type Terminal in the search bar

- Type arp -a at the command prompt

- Look for the MAC Address of the WD device
